I was waiting and waiting for this game to arrive on the 64 through all it's 3-4 delays, hoping I would get a great game with great graphics, gameplay etc. But I didn't.
Gameplay: Terrible, I can't believe that Nintendo actually put their name on this title. The controls are way too loose. The players move way too slowly, and the players are all really fat which takes away the true Baseball feeling. I guess there are a few o.k. controls in this game (The pitching ain't that bad) but that isn't enough to save this games horrible gameplay.
Graphics: Hmmm. It's weird, in the screenshots and in the movies the graphics were good. But the actual games were all blurry, and the screen dithered a lot. I can't say I'm impressed with the graphics in the game (or just the game for that matter). I can't believe I thought they might have better then Acclaims Awesome All Star Baseball '99. Or if not better at least as good (Hey I was drunk) Another terrible thing is the players animation, there isn't any. Well there is but it all looks like something I crapped out and whipped onto a wall. In the running to bases there's only like two! The only semi-cool thing that they added is the crowd, although looks terrible up close, far back looks cool.
Sound: The best part of the game, but still ain't that good. It is cool, however, to hear "Popcorn!" and the occasional Police sounds and planes overhead. (Too bad you can't see the planes) Also the crowd reacts to how you play, if you're doin' good, they will cheer for you a lot.
I also think it's cool to hear the little funky tunes in the game. Oh yeah, Nintendo, you better add some Play-by-Play in the next game, cause it pisses me off to hear "What a shot" almost every homerun. I hope you're listening to this.
Replay Value: Well I haven't picked this game up for awhile, so the Replay is pretty bad. There is no point to play a game with terrible graphics, controlling and they didn't even put in a Player Creation mode to boost up the Replay a bit. If you want a baseball game that lasts long, don't get this one, get All Star Baseball. Also you can't even play a whole season in this game. There ain't no freaking Difficulty so the game just gets harder and harder to a point you can't get a run in a game for about 20 innings (My longest game was 32 innings halfway through the season)
Overall: If you wanna get this game, fine. But I am not encouraging it, no options in this game should keep you away. This is definitely one series that should have stayed on the SNES.
